‘Sundays on State’ returns this summer with an expanded imprint

CHICAGO (WLS) — The Chicago Loop Alliance award-winning series of internationally recognized events, Sunday in the States back from today. Sections of State Street in the Loop will be closed to vehicular traffic on July 16 and August 13 this summer.
Sundays on State is free and open to the public and will take place this year with a footprint expansion on State Street from Lake to Adams. Named “Best New Show of the Year” by Time Out Chicago (2021), Sundays on State puts State Street “the big way” in full splendor for family-friendly fun through active recreation, food and drink, shopping, and entertainment in the Everyone Neighborhood. – Loops. The program will take advantage of State Street from Lake to Adams, an expansion from previous years. Lake, Randolph, Washington, Madison and Monroe will remain open from east to west. Traffic closures will take place from 5am-midnight, and the events themselves will take place from 11am-6pm on both Sundays.
“Now in its third year, Sundays on State remains an ambitious and highly successful initiative, with more than 113,000 attendees at its first event in 2022,” said Chicago Loop Alliance President and CEO Michael Edwards. “Chicagos from every neighborhood and visitor alike come together to experience the best of our city on our most iconic street, State Street. The series of events continue to attract thousands of people, providing unique access to hundreds of small businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs from across Chicagoland. area, while also accelerating the Loop’s economic recovery.”

Small businesses, local entrepreneurs, artists and non-profit organizations are encouraged to submit activation proposals to participate in Sundays on State.
