It’s always hard to know how the startup category will decline. But if you had asked me a few months ago, I would have expected cybersecurity to be relatively recession-proof, as are data observations. However, what I don’t have in my cards yet is generative AI and animal farming. — Anna

The numbers came out for cybersecurity investment last quarter, and they weren’t great, to a staggering extent. According to Crunchbase, cybersecurity startups are only on the rise $1.6 billion in venture funding in the second quarter of this year.
Not only does this represent a quarter-over-quarter decline of 63%, but it is also the lowest amount the sector has raised in any given quarter since Q4 2019.
