The Browns said Goodwin will miss the start of training camp this month after a doctor’s exam revealed blood clots in his lung and leg. Goodwin experienced some shortness of breath and leg discomfort

“It was really worrying at first because I’ve had injuries throughout my career, but it’s never something like this that can turn into something disastrous if left untreated,” Goodwin told the team’s website. “It was scary at first, but now I’m comfortable with it. I’ve been praying and turning it over to God. It’s out of my control, and the only thing I can control is my effort and attitude and how I live each day.”

Goodwin would remain around the team while camp opened, attending meetings and being present on the training pitch without participating.

“I’m grateful for that, and hopefully things are getting under control and I can feel my body and what I need to feel so I can help this team run,” said Goodwin.

Goodwin, 32, spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks and caught 27 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games (two starts).

In nine NFL seasons spent with the Buffalo Bills (2013-16), San Francisco 49ers (2017-19), Chicago Bears (2021) and Seahawks, he has 187 career receptions for 3,023 yards and 18 touchdowns.
